DFW International Airport has hired a construction company for a $2 billion project. The plan to renovate Terminal C was approved in August by the airport board.
The renovation will expand capacity and improve customer experience. This plan follows the approval of new gates throughout the airport.
The company hired to take on the task is Suffolk, a private Boston-based construction business with offices in Dallas, New York, Miami, West Palm Beach, Tampa, Estero, Los Angeles, San Francisco, and San Diego.
They are currently ranked 23rd on the Engineering News-Record list of “Top 400 Contractors”.
Terminal C is the busiest, largest, and oldest terminal and the only one fully occupied by American Airlines at DFW.
The project will include upgrades to interior finishes at 18 gates, including concessions and restrooms, reconfigurations, expansion to ticketing and security checkpoints, and new baggage areas. Other upgrades will include installing energy-efficient glazing, replacing the AC, reworking passenger boarding bridges, guidance systems, ramp marking, and jet fuel lines.
Full construction and renovation will start in 2024, even though pre-construction has already begun. The 850,000 square foot project is expected to be completed in 2026.

Partnering with Suffolk for the project is 3i Contracting.
