President Biden is facing intense backlash following reports that he reportedly took a nap on Air Force One while grieving families of Marines killed in Afghanistan anxiously waited for hours to receive the remains of their loved ones.
These serious allegations have surfaced alongside the Biden administration’s purported cover-up of the President’s declining health. Reports suggest Biden has missed crucial moments and major decisions, including the problematic withdrawal of U.S. troops from Afghanistan in 2021.
The attack took place on August 26, 2021, and tragically claimed the lives of 13 American service members at the hands of a Taliban suicide bomber. The incident also resulted in the deaths of over 170 Afghan civilians during the chaotic final phases of the U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan.
The tumultuous withdrawal of U.S. troops from Afghanistan, which concluded after two decades of military involvement, is broadly regarded as one of the most significant failures of President Biden’s administration, reported the New York Post. Many observers felt that the abrupt exit undermined years of progress and left the Afghan people in a precarious situation as the Taliban regained control.
Family members of the deceased soldiers expressed their outrage, arguing that Biden’s choice to rest instead of attending to them at Dover Air Force Base on August 29, 2021, for the “dignified transfer” ceremony to receive the caskets of the fallen soldiers was profoundly disrespectful.
Roice McCollum, whose brother Rylee was among the fallen, revealed that they endured an agonizing three-hour delay due to the President’s actions, which she deemed a grave insult during a time of such profound loss.
President Biden “made us wait an extra three hours to receive the bodies of our dead family members because he couldn’t pull it together,” McCollum told DailyMail.com.
Others voiced similar frustrations, feeling humiliated by the prolonged wait while the President allegedly slept.
Shamblin is the mother of Marine Sgt. Nicole Gee, and Hoover, the father of Staff Sgt. Taylor Hoover, both of whom lost their lives in the Kabul explosion.
“We sat in that office for what seemed like an eternity waiting on the doddering old fool,” Hoover told the DailyMail.
“One of the biggest shocks for me was meeting a Commander-in-Chief who was clearly not well or fit for the position he was in,” added Shamblin.
Tensions escalated as many recalled Biden’s demeanor during the solemn ceremony, notably when he was seen checking his watch repeatedly, only intensifying the sense of disrespect felt by the grieving families.
Despite the White House’s denials regarding the President’s napping claims, families continue to grapple with their grief, compounded by a sense of neglect and a lack of reverence from the highest office in the nation during a moment that should have been marked by compassion and support.
“I think the more these facts come out the more Americans will understand they were lied to purposely for the last 4 years on even the most basic facts,” Shamblin said, per DailyMail.
