Fort Worth Mayor Mattie Parker slammed City Council Member Chris Nettles’ shocking behavior allegedly caught on audio.
Parker reacted to a post on Tik Tok that allegedly revealed Nettles discussing his plans to target a family member for violence, wanting to wiretap a phone and calling his colleagues racist.
“Leadership means you attack problems, not people,” said Mattie Parker. “Fort Worth deserves better. As for the rest of the video, questions need to be directed to councilmember Nettles,” Parker said, reported NBC 5.
As previously reported by The Dallas Express, Fort Worth resident Payton Jackson shared a 6-minute-long video from 2022 on TikTok featuring Nettles’ inflammatory comments.
Jackson shared a screenshot of a text exchange with Parker regarding the video. Parker texted to Jackson, “Speechless.”
Nettles dismissed the controversy, and told NBC 5 that the recording is from a conversation held two years ago.
“I was grappling with the realization that the council would not have the votes to approve the creation of a police oversight board,” he continued. “While I may have expressed frustration in that moment, I want to be clear: I do not believe my fellow council members are racist.”
The recording has led to condemnation from Tarrant County leaders and residents.
“Fort Worth City Council member @ChrisNettlesD8 recorded talking about taking a hit out on someone and calling other Council members racist. This is one of the loons, who besides allegedly having affairs (both straight and gay) on his wife, also recently invited a bunch of radicals to the Council meeting and caused an incredible disruption to city business. The elections are in May, and I can promise you unhinged and dangerous people like Nettles are going to face a serious challenge,” Tarrant County Republican Chairman Bo French wrote on X.
“@ChrisNettlesD8 go on & resign today! You’re a disgrace to the entire city of Fort Worth, always has been & always will be. You are a crook that didn’t live in your district when you ran & then redrew the maps so you’d be in district. You’ve been a lying disgusting pig to me & the entire city. Gig’s up, you’re done!” Fort Worth resident Hollie Plemons wrote on X.
The Dallas Express reached out to Nettles for comment but has not received a response.
