Republican Party of Texas Chairman Abraham George has slammed State Rep. Dustin Burrows for not respecting the Texas House GOP Caucus vote approving Rep. David Cook for Speaker.

As previously reported by The Dallas Express, Cook (R-Mansfield) won the GOP caucus’ endorsement for Speaker, securing 48 votes out of the 88 caucus members. Burrows (R-Lubbock) garnered 14 in the third and final round of voting. Some caucus members walked out of the meeting after the first two rounds of voting and did not participate in the third round.

Burrows is banking on a coalition of support with Democrats to secure the necessary votes to become Speaker.

“We’ve been waiting for Dustin Burrows to back down and support the caucus nominee. Instead, he’s doubling down by colluding with Democrats. If you openly cut deals with Democrats to undermine Republican priorities, we will inform your voters. The TV ad is starting in the Lubbock area tomorrow. More to come,” George said on X.

The video George posted shows a compilation of Texas House GOP members slamming Burrows, with one calling Burrows a “liberal RINO who cut a deal with the Democrats.”

It claims that Burrows broke his promise after  previously stating he would like “to see the next Republican Speaker to be able to fully show that he has support of the majority of the members of the Republican Caucus.”

The Texas GOP has also been sending out text messages to Republicans who are currently supporting Burrows’ bid for Speaker, as reported by The Texan.

“Representative, this is Chairman Abraham George. My desire is for Republicans to unite in accordance with the caucus bylaws and the GOP platform. Before the Republican Party of Texas sends any direct mail into your district I wanted an opportunity to personally connect about your public position on the speakers race. Call at your convenience,” the message reads, per a posting on X.

The Dallas Express reached out to Burrows’ office but did not receive a response.
