Texans will soon have a new way to show their pride for the State Fair of Texas while supporting local youth.
The Texas Department of Motor Vehicles (TxDMV) Board of Directors recently approved the release of a specialty license plate that will be available for purchase starting in early 2025, Fox 4 reported.
The vibrant, custom-designed plates are more than just a vehicle accessory; they are a way to contribute to the Big Tex Scholarship Program, which benefits Texas students in need.
The proceeds from the sale of these specialty plates will go directly to the Big Tex Scholarship Program, which has been providing scholarships to graduating high school seniors across the state for years. The program is aimed at supporting students from a variety of backgrounds, including those who have participated in youth livestock events at the State Fair, as well as seniors from six Dallas ISD high schools near Fair Park. Longtime seasonal employees of the State Fair or their dependents are also eligible for assistance through this program.
Since its inception in 1992, the Big Tex Scholarship Program has awarded over $18.8 million to more than 3,500 Texas students. This initiative continues to make a significant impact by helping students pursue higher education and achieve their dreams. The new specialty license plate will allow residents of Texas to directly contribute to this cause while also showcasing their connection to the State Fair’s rich history and community efforts.
“The State Fair of Texas is a cherished tradition,” Karissa Condoianis, Senior Vice President of Public Relations for the State Fair, told Fox 4. “This new specialty license plate provides an incredible opportunity for Texans to showcase their pride while supporting Texas students.”
The plates serve not only as a symbol of Texas pride but also as a direct link to the fair’s educational initiatives. The sale of each plate will help empower the next generation of leaders and innovators across the state.
In addition to helping students, the specialty plates will also strengthen the connection between the fair and the local community. By supporting the Big Tex Scholarship Program, buyers of the plates will be directly involved in fostering the growth of Texas youth. This community-focused initiative demonstrates the State Fair’s commitment to creating opportunities for young people to succeed in their academic and professional pursuits.
The specialty plates will be available for purchase in early 2025.
