The Dallas County game warden is reportedly investigating whether a vigilante is shooting coyotes in an East Dallas neighborhood following three reported coyote deaths.

Dallas Animal Services told Fox 4 KDFW that there have been three coyotes found dead in Lochwood since August, with two of those coyotes dying from gunshot wounds and the third being disposed of before an investigation could take place.

Emily Levin lives in the neighborhood and said she had an unpleasant experience when she found a dead coyote on her property.

“Wednesday, this dead coyote appeared in our front yard on the border between our yard and our neighbor’s yard,” she said, per Fox 4.

Levin said she quickly called the city and a city wildlife investigator was sent to evaluate the incident. However, little information was provided outside of the news that the coyote was shot.

“And I asked her if she knew if it had been shot in our front yard or it had walked. And she said it was hard to tell, which is not reassuring,” she added, per Fox 4.

Residents from Lochwood have also reported gunfire in the neighborhoods in recent weeks, though police have been unable to determine whether these shots were related to the coyote shootings.

One homeowner who lives a couple of streets away from Levin released a video from late October in which a gunshot can be heard, followed by the shattering of glass just moments after the gunshots.

Levin said she had not encountered an incident like this before, but she warned anyone who might consider continuing the practice.

“Don’t bring that to our neighborhood. It’s too nice of a place for that,” she said, as reported by Fox 4.

The Dallas County game warden said the situation is currently being monitored for any potential threats, noting that the coyotes do not currently pose a threat to residents in these neighborhoods.
