Fall is a fabulous time for foodies, as practically the whole season revolves around breaking bread with friends and family. For those who would like to sharpen their culinary skills, or just learn how to bake a new dish, there are a plethora of cooking classes around the metroplex to help you out. Here are a few to get you started.
The Cookery in Fort Worth is the place to go to tackle a three-course Thanksgiving spread. During the three-hour class, the participants will create — and eat — their way through the menu, which includes soup, Roasted Cornish Game Hens, a variety of sides, and dessert.
Tickets are $125 per person for the class on November 15.
Central Market in Fort Worth is offering its own take on the holiday classics with a menu that includes Herb-roasted Turkey Breast with Sage Sausage Dressing, Sweet Potato Casserole with Sorghum, Roasted Cranberry Sauce, and Apple Salad with Cider-Sesame Vinaigrette. The meal is served at the end of the class with a glass of wine.
Tickets are $95 per person and the class will be held November 23 from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Is there a vegetarian on your holiday guest list? Central Market on Lover’s Lane in Dallas is offering a class on how to prepare a meatless Thanksgiving meal filled with fresh seasonal ingredients, including roasted squash, sourdough bread and onion casserole, green bean casserole, and dessert.
Tickets are $85 for the two-and-a-half-hour class on November 23, which starts at 11:30 a.m.
For a fun family outing, take the kiddos to a dessert workshop at Sur La Table in Dallas to make caramel apples, chocolate cupcakes that look like turkeys, and cake pops that resemble mini pumpkins. The class is for ages 7 and up, and all children under 18 must be accompanied by a paying adult.
Tickets are $69 per person, and the November 23 class starts at 1 p.m.
