Social media influencers have made a case for having Texas Attorney general Ken Paxton as the next U.S. Attorney General.
“Following the election of President-Elect Trump, assembling the strongest, most loyal team to execute his vision for America is paramount. In the eyes of countless Americans, and certainly my own, no figure is more fitting to serve as the next U.S. Attorney General than Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton. President Trump himself described Ken as ‘a very talented guy,’ a sentiment demonstrated by his sharp legal acumen, unparalleled resilience, unwavering loyalty, and steadfast commitment to the rule of law,” an X user calling himself Amuse wrote on that platform.
Amuse makes the case that Paxton would be a reformer at the Department of Justice.
“Ken Paxton embodies precisely the kind of Attorney General America requires at this critical juncture. The Department of Justice has become corrupted, twisted into an instrument of political reprisal and selective prosecution. We need a proven reformer — a leader who grasps not only the mechanisms of law but also the reality of battling a politically motivated judicial apparatus,” Amuse wrote.
Others have echoed Amuse’s case for Paxton.
“How about Ken Paxton? He has the intelligence, the toughness, and he knows how to settle scores and hold people accountable,” Dinesh D’Souza wrote on X.
“TX AG Ken Paxton sued to challenge the 2020 election theft. Paxton fought Jack Smith, who was illegally Appointed by Biden-Harris DOJ. He tried to toss Obamacare. He consistently fights to drain the swamp. Ken Paxton for U.S. Atty General!” Derrick Evans wrote on X.
Others pushed back, making the case that Paxton is needed in Texas.
“We don’t need to sacrifice the most effective constitutional attorney general perhaps in history by moving him to the federal level where his effectiveness will be substantially limited regarding state powers. In fact, as US AG, he will necessarily have to fight for the supremacy of national power over state powers. We need to be shifting more power to the states, and that includes increasing the number of bold constitutional state attorneys general,” Texans Take Action Defending Our Rights & Liberty wrote on X.
The Dallas Express reached out to Paxton’s office for comment but did not receive a response.
