Local leaders are reacting to the Election Day results showing that Hispanics voted overwhelmingly for Trump.
As previously reported by The Dallas Express, according to exit polling by the Washington Post, 55% of Latino voters in Texas supported Trump, marking a 14-point swing from the 41% he received in 2020, as reported by the Houston Chronicle.
Nationwide, 45% of Latino voters supported Trump in 2024, up from just 29% in 2016. Notably, Trump won the majority of Latino men, securing 54% of their vote, per the Post.
Local Hispanic leaders have reacted.
“I am immensely proud to be among the historic 55% of Latino voters who supported Trump!” Tarrant County Citizens Defending Freedom Director Rosalie Escobedo told The Dallas Express. “Our culture is deeply rooted in conservatism. We cherish Jesus, family, entrepreneurship, and property ownership—values that resonate strongly with the Republican platform of conservatism.”
Escobedo said she began block-walking for President-elect Donald Trump in 2020.
“I specifically targeted Hispanic neighborhoods based on two candidate races I helped with,” she said. “We are now reaping the rewards of more than four years of dedicated efforts advancing the Kingdom of God. The future is bright, as more Latinos are embracing this perspective. Join us in ushering in a new Golden Age of America, making this nation the best it has ever been.”
“Hispanics have always focused on hard work, family values, and wanting to see their children succeed,” North Richland Hills Councilmember Ricky Rodriguez told The Dallas Express. “Hispanics also value safety, security, and a strong border in Texas. They have been taken advantage of by the democratic party and seeing high prices at the grocery stores, rising crime due to the open border policies of the Biden/Harris regime, and fewer jobs, Hispanics finally broke away and chose the the Republican party.”
A local GOP leader is also reacting to the seismic political trend.
“The difference in what the two candidates offered could not have been more clear,” said Tarrant County Republican Chairman Bo French. “The Democrats were all in on an open border, anti police, unlimited abortion, the radical LGBT agenda, including transing kids and were openly hostile to Christians. The Republicans are for a strong border, pro police, pro family, pro God, and for the traditional values that the vast majority of Hispanics embrace.”
