Tarrant County Republican candidate David Woodruff has won against Democrat incumbent Constable Robert McGinty in the race for Tarrant County Constable Precinct 2.
Woodruff won 51.48% of the vote compared to incumbent McGinty’s 48.52%, according to Tarrant County election results.
This is a flip from when McGinty defeated incumbent Woodruff in the 2020 general election.
“David Woodruff is a lifelong resident of Arlington with a deep-seated commitment to serving Tarrant County. As a candidate for Tarrant County Constable Precinct 2, David brings over three decades of law enforcement experience, a proven track record of integrity, and a passionate vision for a safer and stronger community,” Woodruff’s campaign website states.
“David’s career spans 31 years in law enforcement, including eight years serving as Constable. He holds a Master Peace Officer License and has completed over 3,300 hours of additional training, ensuring he is equipped with the latest skills and knowledge to protect and serve our community effectively,” his website adds.
Former Arlington Mayor Jeff Williams, Arlington City Council member Bowie Hogg, and other local leaders endorsed Woodruff.
Woodruff’s victory has been met with praise by Republican leaders in the county.
“Incredibly proud of the work David Woodruff and the @tarrantgop put in to flipping Constable Precinct 2!” Cary Cheshire posted on X.
“Tarrant County is a law and order county. Sheriff @BillWaybourn easily won re-election. And more good news, Republicans flipped a Constable seat held by Democrats in Precinct 2 with David Woodruff’s win,” Tarrant County Judge Tim O’Hare posted on X.
