What time will the Texas polls close on election day?
Voting locations will close at 7 p.m. on Nov. 5, with the exception of El Paso, which is in a different time zone. Its polls will close at 8 p.m.
Early voting results will be released shortly after polls close at 7 p.m.; however, Election Day results will not come in until later tonight.
Tarrant County has stated that its election results will not come in no later than 1 a.m. Major races will not have full results until El Paso votes come in.
As previously reported by The Dallas Express, there are three key races that Texans should pay attention to.
Republican U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz seeks re-election in a highly contested race against Democratic challenger Colin Allred. According to the latest polls, Cruz holds a lead of approximately 4.8 points, which reflects a competitive political landscape.
The race has broken a record as the costliest Senate race in U.S. history. Cruz and Allred combined have spent more than $165 million.
Denton County and Tarrant County both have competitive races.
In the Denton County sheriff’s race, incumbent Republican Sheriff Tracy Murphree is running for re-election against Democratic challenger Frederick Bishop.
The Tarrant County Sheriff’s race is also garnering attention as incumbent Republican Sheriff Bill Waybourn faces scrutiny over various issues, particularly concerning conditions and management of the county jail.
Waybourn is running against Democrat Patrick Moses, a former police officer and community activist.
