With Halloween in the rear-view mirror, Dallas’ first ugly Christmas sweater shop for 2024 is set to open.

The Ugly Christmas Sweater Shop returns on Nov. 15 and stays open until Dec. 24. The seasonal pop-up, located within Inside Punch Bowl Social in Deep Ellum, will be open daily, from 4 p.m. to midnight Monday through Thursday, from 11 a.m. to 2 a.m. Friday through Saturday, and from 11 a.m. to midnight on Sundays.

Store owner Jeremy Turner said he had the idea to open a mobile vintage clothing store with his wife Kelsey back in 2011. The idea worked better than expected, so Turner raised the stakes and created the first-ever ugly Christmas sweater store in 2013 in Dallas. This year, Turner is expanding his vision beyond Dallas when he opens additional locations in Austin and Chicago.

“Thanks to our incredible team it was a hit! We even got featured on GMA and ABC World News. We took a break during COVID but now we are happy to be back spreading Christmas cheer. We now popping up inside Punch Bowl Social. Hope to see you soon!” says Turner.

The trend of donning ugly Christmas sweaters has been building in recent years. There is even an annual holiday that lands on the third Friday of December.

Gaudy and outlandish, anything goes. According to Turner, the best sweaters include bells, ornaments, and even lights.

“If you like cats, find a cat-themed Christmas sweater,” Turner explained to The Dallas Express in 2022.

“Following the successful launch of the pop-up series last year, we’re excited to continue our partnership with Jeremy and The Ugly Christmas Sweater Shop to spread some holiday cheer in Dallas… During this year’s activation, we’ll be showcasing a collection of over-the-top holiday-inspired knits that are guaranteed to bring an extra touch of merriment this season,” said Jencey Keeton, chief marketing officer of Punch Bowl Social, per Culture Map Dallas.
