Former President Donald Trump made a unique appearance in Wisconsin on Wednesday, arriving in a garbage truck as part of his campaign leading up to the Nov. 5 election.
The choice of transportation from Trump comes in response to President Joe Biden’s recent comments, calling Trump supporters “garbage” when asked about a controversial joke from comedian Tony Hinchcliffe at a recent Trump rally in New York City.
Hinchcliffe, known for his comedic roasts and the popular online show “Kill Tony,” unleashed a variety of edgy jokes at the rally held at Madison Square Garden. At one point in the night, seen in a video published by CSPAN, Hinchcliffe used a punchline that called Puerto Rico “a floating island of garbage.”
Since the comedian took center stage at the rally, he has received a volley of criticism from a plethora of internet commentators.
During an online interview hosted by U.S. Rep. Alexandra Ocasio Cortez, Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz responded to the comedian’s set saying, “When you have some a-hole calling Puerto Rico ‘floating garbage,’ know that that’s what they think about you. It’s what they think about anyone who makes less money than them… I want every Puerto Rican in Philadelphia and Reading and across the country to see this clip.”
Hinchcliffe didn’t shy away from responding to Walz’s online critique.
“These people have no sense of humor…Wild that a vice presidential candidate would take time out of his ‘busy schedule’ to analyze a joke taken out of context to make it seem racist. I love Puerto Rico and vacation there,” Hinchcliffe posted on X.
“Watch the whole set. I’m a comedian Tim…” he added.
In a recent rally held in Green Bay, Trump donned an orange reflective vest marked with “Make America Great Again 2024.” He addressed the press, telling Fox News, “How do you like my garbage truck? This truck is in honor of Kamala and Joe Biden.”
This recent comment from Biden echoes a similar incident from the 2016 election when Hillary Clinton referred to Trump supporters as “deplorables.”
At a rally in Allentown, Pennsylvania, Trump took the opportunity to mock both Biden and Clinton’s comments, saying, “Remember Hillary? She said ‘deplorable’ and then said ‘irredeemable,’ right? But she said ‘deplorable.’ That didn’t work out. ‘Garbage’ I think is worse…But he doesn’t know- you have to please forgive him. Please forgive him. For he not knoweth what he said.”
Throughout his time on the campaign trail, Trump has continued to utilize some creative ways to showcase the alleged lies offered up by his political opponents.
Earlier this month, Trump “worked a shift” at a McDonald’s location near Philadelphia, hoping to showcase an allegedly false assertion that Harris made during her campaign when she claimed that she was a prior employee at the fast food chain, as previously reported by DX.
“I’ve really wanted to do this all my life and now I’m going to do it, because she didn’t do it,” Trump told reporters at the McDonald’s appearance.
