As early voting ramps up, some voters have faced issues, though officials say some could be due to their own mistakes.
“They told me I was still registered in Denton County,” early voter Holli Dawsey said, reported NBC DFW. “So, I had to go to Fort Worth to get it all straightened out. So that’s why I’m here today.”
Other complications that voters experienced included confusion due to living on a county line.
“Before the deadline for voter registration ended, I changed my address,” early voter Lorra Brown said.
“I filled out the application. They couldn’t find the application with the updated address or any of my information anywhere, so I had to refill out the information today, and I had to, unfortunately, go in and vote provisional voting today.”
However, some faced an entirely different issue.
“Both of us scanned our IDs, and he proceeded to vote with no issues,” Jessica Robertson said, reported NBC DFW. “After scanning my ID, it pulled up the information for a man that lives in Euless.”
As previously reported by The Dallas Express, a man alleged that his vote was switched from Donald Trump to Kamala Harris. But Tarrant County Elections Administrator Clint Ludwig reported that only one case existed and that it could have been due to human error.
Ludwig did, however, admit that a labeling error was detected with some ballots.
“Tarrant County Elections has identified a labeling error for the office of ‘Presiding Judge, Court of Criminal Appeals’ on the printed paper ballot. The candidates are being correctly displayed on the screen and the printed ballot. However, ‘Presiding Judge, Court of Criminal Appeals’ is labeled as ‘Railroad Commissioner’ on the paper ballot,” he said. “This labeling error will not affect the results of either the Railroad Commissioner or the Presiding Judge, Court of Criminal Appeals race.”
The issues reported were reported to the Texas Secretary of State’s Office.
