The Texas Christian University Horned Frogs will host the Texas Tech Red Raiders on Saturday at 2:30 p.m. as they look to build on their solid win against Utah last week.
TCU has gotten off to a slow start to the season with an overall record of 4-3, including a 2-2 record through their first four Big 12 Conference games.
The Horned Frogs’ 2-2 conference record puts them seventh in the Big 12 standings, though they remain just two games behind BYU and Iowa State for the top overall spot in the standings.
The Red Raiders have gotten off to a better start to the 2024 season than the Horned Frogs, putting together a 5-2 overall record and a 3-1 conference record after a loss to Baylor in Week 8.
Those watching the game should expect a high-scoring matchup between the two teams, as both feature multiple players who can dominate the offensive side of the ball.
TCU quarterback Josh Hoover currently ranks fourth in the FBS for passing yards at 2,270 while also being tied for third in completions over 20 yards with 34 through the Horned Frogs’ first seven games, according to a TCU news release.
Meanwhile, the Red Raiders feature star running back Tahj Brooks, who became only the second FBS player since 1996 to rush for at least 95 yards in 17 consecutive games, according to a Texas Tech news release.
These two teams have often faced off, with the Red Raiders holding a slight 33-30-3 edge over the Horned Frogs in a series that dates back 99 years to 1926, per the TCU news release.
Although Texas Tech holds the better record for the life of the series, the Horned Frogs have won seven of the last 10 matchups and will now look to extend this success with a win tonight.
The Horned Frogs have also been much more effective when playing at home, with an overall record of 20-14 and just 10-19-3 in games played in Lubbock.
While TCU has proven to be much more formidable while playing in Fort Worth, the Red Raiders could steal a win as the road team in this series has also put together a record of 7-5 since joining the Big 12 in 2012, per the TCU news release.
