United Way is celebrating its 100th anniversary of dedicated support for the people of North Texas.
On Thursday night, the United Way of Metropolitan Dallas will kick off a celebration to commemorate a century in Dallas.
The event will take place at the AT&T Discovery District in downtown Dallas.
The nonprofit organization is rolling out a year-long series of engaging events, volunteer initiatives, and charitable activities to mark this significant milestone.
The official centennial celebration is scheduled for November 15, 2025, at the Cotton Bowl located in Fair Park.
The year-long celebration aims to pay tribute to a century of impactful contributions that have touched the lives of countless individuals throughout North Texas.
“For the past 100 years, United Way of Metropolitan Dallas has led the charge to provide the access and opportunity for all North Texans to thrive,” said Jennifer Sampson, McDermott-Templeton President and CEO of United Way of Metropolitan Dallas, reported NBC 5 DFW. “The Centennial Celebration casts a vision that calls us all to ‘Live United’ that will propel lasting change for the next 100 years while celebrating the historic impact made right here in our community.”
In 2024, United Way’s collaborative initiatives impacted the lives of over 1.7 million individuals across North Texas, representing more than 20% of Dallas’ overall population.
The organization concentrated its efforts on three critical areas: enhancing access to education, boosting income opportunities, and improving health outcomes.
Through various programs and partnerships, United Way aims to address systemic barriers, foster economic stability, and promote overall well-being within the community. Their work not only provides essential resources but also engages local stakeholders to create sustainable solutions for long-term change.
“The Centennial Series will consist of two marquee event streams: the Aspire United Volunteer Series and a Culminating Celebration, the Aspire United Festival, at Fair Park — each with several related activations,” states the United Way Metropolitan Dallas webpage.
“We are a bridge between corporate philanthropy and the nonprofit sector here in North Texas,” Sampson added, per KRLD.
