Dallas County GOP leaders are sounding the alarm that county voting machines may be flawed.

DCGOP Chairman Allen West wrote in a statement that recent voting machine testing found “our voting system equipment is opaque and presents grave risks to Dallas County voters and out Texas Constitutional Republic.”

He cited myriad issues in a press release.

He said during a test of voting equipment on Oct. 8, observers saw “vote flipping” on ExpressVote machines. He also cited two examples where ExpressVote machines could not be set to the proper “parameters” for the upcoming presidential election.

The DCGOP also said the “Secretary of State, Attorney General personnel and the elections administrator still would not explain or document central accumulator errors.”

West wrote to members of the Senate State Affairs Committee pleading for assistance.

“It is with a heavy heart that we report these grave matters to you. We again call on the Secretary of State, Attorney General, and Dallas County Elections Administrator to adhere to the Eelction Code in tabulations, credibility enforce Texas election laws, use authority they have been granted by the legislature,” his statement said.

The Attorney General’s Office posted on X that they are investigating the matter, but noted inaccuracies in West’s statement.

“The DCRP’s press release on this issue is premature and contains several inaccuracies. My office is continuing to investigate this issue. A report from the Secretary of State’s office is forthcoming. Although the DCRP’s press release suggests otherwise, the truth is that all parties involved have made significant progress toward resolving all outstanding issues,” Ken Paxton posted on X.

“My office has been working around the clock to uphold the integrity of Texas elections. There is nothing more important than protecting every legal vote from election fraud or interference,” Paxton wrote on X.

Dallas County Elections Administrator Heider Garcia pushed back. and told the Dallas Morning News that the DCGOP statement had errors.

“The Dallas County Elections Department strives to be transparent in all processes. For example, in public tests, we add a Public Verification Day, not required by law, and invite people to come and test the systems themselves. We have also launched an Open Records Initiative, releasing hundreds of thousands of election records proactively without requiring a public information request,” he told The Dallas Express.

“And just this week, we conducted a top-to-bottom demonstration of our election systems for Texas State Senators Hall, Parker, West, and Johnson, along with representatives from both political parties. These actions, which exceed state requirements, demonstrate our commitment to radical transparency and a secure voting process,” he said.

He Told the Dallas Morning News:  “We’ve provided plenty of time and effort and resources to accommodate and address concerns.”

Garcia has been criticized in the past work, including working as a software engineer for the voting machine company Smartmatic in Venezuela, the Texas Tribune reported.

Users on X have criticized Garcia.

“The machines are uncertifiable, and the Dallas Elections Administrator doesn’t seem to care,” Nathan Petty wrote on X.
