Tarrant County Commissioner Alisa Simmons’ communications manager, Hector G. Mendez, has publicly attacked Tarrant County Judge Tim O’Hare on X.

“If Precinct 3 can elect Laura Leeman to the Commissioners Court, it’s game over for Judge Tim O’Hare. It’s that simple,” Mendez posted on X.

“After two years under O’Hare’s leadership voters in November will decide two races between Republican allies of O’Hare and their Democratic opponents. The election of both Democrats would put O’Hare in the Minority. Folk’s we must elect @laura4 tarrant!,” Mendez posted on X.

According to his LinkedIn page, Mendez has been the National Director of Communications for College Democrats and the Communication and Press Director for the Texas Legislative Black Caucus.

Mendez has been the Communications Manager for Simmons since July 2023.

This would not be the first criticism of O’Hare from Simmons’s office.

Earlier this year, the Tarrant County Commissioners voted 3-2 along party lines to approve Noah Betz’s five-month contract as a contractor for County Judge Tim O’Hare’s office.

Noah Betz is the current executive director of Huffines Liberty Foundation and a political strategist, according to his LinkedIn account, per KERA News.

Commissioner Alisa Simmons called Betz’s hiring “wholly inappropriate” and argued that county employees are restricted in political work. She said that the county should not replace a full-time employee with a contractor who will not be subject to the same rules, reported KERA News.

Despite saying that county employees are restricted when it comes to political work, her official Commissioner X account has posted political content.

“Check out how my MAGA colleague came for me today at Commissioners Court meeting,” she has tweeted. “I’m not your kid, your Stepford Wife or your slave.”

The Dallas Express contacted Commissioner Simmons’s office to ask about Simmons’ double standard and whether taxpayer-funded employees from the county are posting political content through her X account. DX did not receive a response.
