Fort Worth ISD Interim Superintendent Karen Molinar has laid out five priorities for her tenure.
Her areas of focus will include: evaluating bond status and facilities, improving student achievement, improving organizational effectiveness, reprioritizing and redirecting the budget, and reengaging and realigning community and business partnership programs, the Fort Worth Report explained.
“I enter into this role with eyes wide open to the challenges that exist and am prepared to execute a strategic action plan that is a bold, yet authentic, strategy to address the district’s real deficiencies, while prioritizing students, teachers and families,” Molinar said.
“Our goal is to create learning environments that inspire success,” Molinar said, according to the Fort Worth Report.
“By evaluating and right-sizing our facilities, we ensure that each school is equipped to provide the best possible education for our students.”
Fort Worth ISD School board President Roxanne Martinez has expressed confidence in Molinar’s ability to deliver results and move the school district in the right direction.
“Fort Worth ISD is a district on the rise, and with Dr. Molinar at the helm, we will remain focused on delivering excellent instruction, supporting our staff and staying connected to our community,” Martinez said. “Change can bring challenges, but we are united in our mission to ensure the best education for every student,” the Fort Worth Report writes.
However, others in the community do not believe that the priorities go far enough.
“A communication went out from new interim Superintendent Karen Molinar. She has a tough job and her 5 points are the same verbiage being regurgitated from prior Superintendents,” a group called the FWISD Watchdog posted on Facebook.
The Dallas Express reached out to Molinar but did not receive a response.
