The Fort Worth School Board has chosen Karen Molinar to be its interim superintendent.

This would not be the first time Molinar has been the interim superintendent, as she was the interim superintendent briefly in September of 2022 after Superintendent Kent Scribner’s resignation, KERA News reported.

As previously reported by The Dallas Express, Superintendent Dr. Angelica Ramsey resigned on Sept. 24; the board accepted her resignation in an 8-1 vote.

“I would like to extend my deepest gratitude to the Fort Worth ISD board for allowing me the honor of serving this district over the past two years. It has been a privilege, and I have approached this responsibility with the utmost seriousness and dedication,” Ramsey said in a statement last month.

Ramsey had been criticized by teachers and stakeholders for not improving the school district.

“We have been telling you over and over what needs to change, yet you’ve ignored us,” FWISD teacher Meghan Breedlove said during public comment this past month.

“Instead of requiring students to behave appropriately and work hard so that top-notch instruction can take place, you provide scripted lessons to tell us exactly what to say,” Breedlove said.

“Her journey through our district is a testament to her deep commitment to student success and community engagement,” school board president Roxanne Martinez said, as reported in the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.

Molinar reacted to the board placing her as the interim superintendent.

“I am pleased and humbled to accept the position of Interim Superintendent for the Fort Worth ISD as we embark on a necessary but meaningful transformation to address the critical shortcomings within the District,” Molinar said, according to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.

“Every student in Fort Worth deserves a path to success,” Molinar said.

“We are committed to closing achievement gaps and ensuring that every child has the tools and support they need to thrive academically,” Molinar added, according to the Star-Telegram.
