According to the 2024 Forbes list of the 400 richest Americans, 19 billionaires live in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.
This year’s “Forbes 400” list highlights the growing wealth of America’s elite, with a collective net worth of $5.4 trillion, an increase of $1 trillion since 2023.
Among some standout names is Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones, whose net worth has climbed to $15.2 billion, placing him at No. 48 nationally. Meanwhile, Walmart heiress Alice Walton of Fort Worth holds the current title of the richest person in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, with an impressive net worth of $89.2 billion, significantly up from her listed net worth of $56.7 billion last year.
Elon Musk, now newly residing in Austin, tops the national list for the third consecutive year with a fortune listed at $244 billion, despite a $7 billion decline in his overall net worth from 2023.
Newcomer Lyndal Stephens Greth, chair of Endeavor Energy Resources, has a net worth of $32.3 billion, making her the second wealthiest in DFW and the 28th richest in the U.S. According to CultureMap Dallas, her wealth surged following the recent sale of the company for approximately $26 billion.

Dallas and its residents have continued to rank highly in various recently published reports in terms of wealth.
A recent SmartAsset study revealed that Texas is experiencing a significant influx of high-income earners, ranking second in the nation for the “net inflow of affluent households.”
Additionally, according to a report from NBC News published in May, Dallas is ranked as the 22nd “wealthiest city globally.”
