A local evangelistic outreach pastor was arrested this week for continuous violence against a family member or partner.
David Scarberry works at Revival City Church in McKinney, Texas.
The church’s website says Scarberry graduated from Love Dallas Ministries and leads teams within the McKinney community every Wednesday evening to bring “salvation, healing, and the truth of God’s word.”
Court records show that the 53-year-old has an extensive and violent criminal history.
In 1994, Scarberry was arrested for assault and battery in Oklahoma. On the same day, his wife at the time filed an emergency protective order.
The assault and battery charge was later dismissed.
Following his release from prison, Scarberry spent five years in an Oklahoma prison in 2002 for two possession of controlled drugs felony charges and for the possession of a firearm while committing a felony.
Records show that Scarberry moved to Texas shortly after his release from prison.
Scarberry has used his criminal past as a testimony of how religion saved him.
In 2020, Scarberry delivered a virtual testimony to the Full Gospel Business Men’s Fellowship in America. The posting reads:
“[Scarberry] also was a drug addict (since age 11) that was arrested as the largest manufacturer and distributor of a drug called GHB in Oklahoma. He served less than a year of his 15 year sentence due to God’s divine intervention. Learning how to sew in prison led to another successful business for the last 12 years but he struggled with heavy drug addiction until God led him through Youtube to a Christian conference where he surrendered completely to Jesus and was completely delivered of his drug addiction. He currently runs his business, leads discipleship with his church and participates in prison ministry.”
It is unknown who the victim is in relation to Scarberry’s arrest on Monday. Scarberry was held at Collin County jail and released on bond by Tuesday.
The Dallas Express reached out to Revival City Church but did not receive a response by the time of publication.
