A teacher at Goodman Elementary School in Arlington ISD is reportedly still on administrative leave after being accused of tying up students with string and putting tape over their mouths.
“We appreciate the understanding and patience of our school community and encourage any students or parents with concerns to contact the school administration,” Arlington ISD said in a statement, The Dallas Morning News reported.
The district said that when school officials learned of the allegations on Friday, September 6, they immediately began an investigation and placed the accused employee on administrative leave, per NBC 5 DFW.
On Monday, the Arlington Police Department made contact with school officials. No police report was filed. The following day, the department said, “[N]o children were injured, no child’s movements were ever restricted, no child’s breathing was restricted, and no criminal offense occurred,” per WFAA.
Arlington ISD is still investigating the allegations and gathering more information.
As previously reported by The Dallas Express, dozens of Texas teachers were arrested in 2023, suggesting an increase in criminality among professionals in the field.
