The Harris-Walz campaign is the most liberal ticket ever hoisted on the American people.

The governor of Minnesota, who equates socialism with “neighborliness,” has signed into law a host of progressive measures, causing some to claim he has the most liberal record of any governor in the country.

Last year was a busy one for the Minnesota politician. He signed a law that would require 100% of Minnesota’s electricity to be “clean” by 2040. Another law he signed restores voting rights to ex-felons, enabling more than 55,000 formerly incarcerated people to vote. Walz also signed a law that requires schools to provide feminine hygiene products in all student restrooms, meaning that boys’ restrooms would be required to have menstrual products. The move earned Walz the nickname “Tampon Tim.”

Walz also issued an executive order that requires Minnesota agencies to protect and support those who seek gender-affirming healthcare services. And he established a right of abortion for Minnesotans, as well as signed another law to shield health workers from criminal penalties for providing abortion care to out-of-state residents.

Clearly, Walz heard his running mate’s instruction to “stay more woke than less woke,” and he’s trying to be “the wokest.”

The Wall Street Journal reports on how Walz’s “uber-liberal record” could open him up to attacks from the GOP. Here’s the start of the story:

CHICAGO—Three days after Democrats narrowly won control of Minnesota’s Senate, House and governor’s mansion in 2022, Gov. Tim Walz summoned party leaders to his formal office in the state’s Capitol building for an early morning huddle.

The two top Democrats in the legislature outlined their ideas for passing a major agenda with their new control of power. Their plans included pouring money into education, public works and vastly expanding the state’s social safety net.

“OK, let’s go,” Walz said after hearing them out, according to Kari Dziedzic, who became the state Senate majority leader in 2023 and participated in the meeting. House Speaker Melissa Hortman, who also attended, summed up Walz’s approach: “You win elections for a reason,” she said.

The Minnesota governor’s eagerness to go big led to more than two dozen major laws passing this past year, an agenda that is already being used by Republicans to bolster their case that he governs from the far left. Despite being a two-term governor with over a decade in Congress as a moderate, the progressive record he pursued over roughly five months could undercut the Harris campaign strategy of selecting a folksy, plain-spoken Midwesterner to help her win over more independent voters.
