Fort Worth City Council has approved a substantial tax abatement for GE Aerospace’s maintenance hub, GE On Wing Support.
The City of Fort Worth has offered GE On Wing Support a seven-year tax abatement, which allows for a reduction of “up to 60% of the incremental value of both the company’s real and business personal property,” according to the City of Fort Worth’s press release.
“GE Aerospace’s On Wing Support is a full-service provider with the regulatory certification and OEM engineering support needed to complete complex engine repairs,” per the company’s website.
In response to the city’s incentive plan, the company plans to enhance and enlarge its current 84,344-square-foot facility at Carter Field in Fort Worth, situated on nearly 19 acres close to the Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport. A 3.25-acre expansion is also in the works next to the company’s current location.
GE On Wing Support “has also committed to hiring 100 additional full-time jobs by December 2026, for a total of 165 full-time employees at the site. The expected minimum average annual salary for all jobs will be $70,000 or more. Additionally, 15% of construction costs for improvements will go towards business-equity firms,” reads the press release.
“GE on Wing Support Inc. has committed to a capital investment of $50 million, including $37.5 million in real property improvements by December 2026 and $12.5 in business personal property by January 2027,” continues the city’s press release.
“This latest investment, which grows both GE on Wing’s operational footprint and workforce in Fort Worth, is exactly the type of investment the Fort Worth EDP targets as we work to attract high-quality business investment to our rapidly growing region,” said Robert Allen, CEO of the Fort Worth Economic Development Partnership, per the press release.
If GE On Wing Support does not fulfill its commitments, the City of Fort Worth’s tax abatement will be lessened.
