When it is so hot the chickens are laying hard-cooked eggs, you know it must be summertime in Texas.

The stretch of triple-digit high temperatures will continue this week in the metroplex, with little chance of rain to bring relief any time soon.

The temperature on Wednesday is forecast to hit 102 degrees around mid-afternoon, but with 52% humidity in the atmosphere, the “feels-like” temperature will be somewhere between 105 and 107 degrees. The National Weather Service (NWS) forecasts similar sunny, hot, and dry conditions for the remainder of the week, with high temperatures climbing even higher over the weekend.

The overnight low on Wednesday will drop to the low 80s, but Thursday will be another hot day, with the high again expected to hit 102 degrees. On Friday, the forecasted high is 103; on Saturday and Sunday, North Texans could see temperatures as high as 105, according to NWS. Overnight lows are not expected to drop below 82 degrees any day this week.

A ridge of high pressure sitting over the North Texas region will act as a “roadblock,” preventing rain and storms to the west from making their way into the metroplex over the next several days, according to Grant Johnston, meteorologist at NBC 5 DFW.

A heat advisory is in effect for Wednesday and will likely be extended through the remainder of the week. North Texans are reminded to limit outdoor activities during the hottest part of the day, stay hydrated, wear loose-fitting, lightweight clothes, and stay indoors or in shady areas as much as possible.

Looking ahead to next week, NWS expects a high temperature on Monday near 106 and a high on Tuesday of around 105.
