The first week of the 2024 Paris Olympics is coming to a close, and the United States currently leads all countries for total medals, accumulating 51 through the first seven days of action.

Team USA secured a total of 12 medals through the first two days of the games, but its medal count has only grown every day since as the United States continues its mission to lead every other country, as previously reported by The Dallas Express.

Although Team USA is currently tied with France for the third most gold medals, the Americans have collected more silver and bronze medals than any other country so far during these Olympic games.

Team USA has brought home 11 gold medals during the Olympic games, trailing only China with 15 and Australia with 12.

Since The Dallas Express’ most recent update regarding the Team USA Olympic medal count, the Americans have secured nine additional gold medals in various sports.

Team USA has once again dominated the women’s gymnastics portion of the Olympic games, as the team won a gold medal for the artistic gymnastics portion, while Simone Biles won gold medals for her performances in the women’s all-around and vault portions.

Similarly, the Americans have continued to dominate in the swimming pool, with Katie LeDecky winning gold in the women’s 1500-meter freestyle and Kate Douglass winning the women’s 200-meter breaststroke.

The Team USA women’s fencing and men’s rowing teams also won gold medals for their showings, while Vincent Hancock won the gold in the men’s skeet shooting competition.

Team USA leads the world with the most silver medals thus far, picking up 20 total second-place finishes during the first week of action.

These finishes involve 11 silver medals in swimming, with eight of these second-place finishes accomplished by women’s team members.

The Americans have also won two gold medals in shooting and cycling and one each in fencing, skateboarding, tennis, diving, and equestrian.

The next closest team to matching Team USA in silver medals is France, which trails the USA by six medals after winning only 14 over the first week.

Team USA also has a large lead over France for the most bronze medals, finishing in third place 20 times. France has managed to come in third just 15 times.

The swimming and gymnastics portions of these games have also produced multiple bronze finishes for the Americans, as the country has won 10 bronze medals across events in these two sports.

The remaining bronze medals come from a singular third-place finish in fencing, cycling, rowing, skateboarding, tennis, archery, canoeing, rugby, sailing, and track and field.

While Team USA has already won more medals through the first week than many countries will finish with, it is still looking to continue adding more trophies over the next week of games.

The Americans will seek to outdo their impressive showing during the 202 Tokyo Olympics, in which the world watched Team USA collect an astonishing 113 medals to increase the streak of 100-medal outings to five straight Olympic games, according to The Olympics.
