First Baptist Dallas will resume Sunday services at its worship center at its downtown campus after a fire ravaged part of its historic chapel in late July.
“We are looking forward to welcoming you home this Sunday morning,” the church announced on Facebook on Thursday. “Please keep in mind we’ve got one service this Sunday at 11. It’ll be a great time for us to all come together and worship together.”
Additionally, the church announced that its choir and orchestra will be performing at the service.
Childcare services and Sunday school will not be available. Instead, Sunday school leaders will meet to develop a new plan for future classes. Childcare and nursery services are scheduled to resume on August 11.
A four-alarm fire broke out at First Baptist Dallas on July 19, as previously reported by The Dallas Express. It took nearly 100 firefighters three hours to contain the blaze. The fire is suspected to have started in the basement, but the cause of the blaze is unknown. No injuries or deaths were reported.
First Baptist Dallas took to X on the day of the fire to express gratitude that there were no serious injuries.
“We continue to praise God for His hand of protection on our church. We are grateful that no one was injured today and are thankful for the first responders who helped contain the fire to our Historic Sanctuary,” wrote First Baptist Dallas.
The church also asked for prayers for the restoration of its campus and its ongoing ministry.
Since the destructive fire, church services have been continuing in alternate locations. The August 4 service will be streamed live for those who wish to attend but cannot make it in person.
