A new immersive experience for America’s favorite pastime is coming to North Texas.

Batbox, a baseball “eatertainment” concept that combines hospitality and sports, announced plans to open its first location in the United States in Addison, per a company press release.

“While baseball enjoys a rich history and a passionate fan base, there has been a significant gap in immersive, interactive experiences that rejuvenate the sport,” said Craig Winning, COO of Batbox. “Batbox addresses this gap by offering a fun and exciting alternative, providing a fresh approach for both baseball enthusiasts and entertainment fans alike.”

The venue will be located at Village on the Parkway off the Dallas North Tollway, according to D Magazine. It will boast a 13,000-square-foot sports bar along with 10 baseball simulators, where groups of up to 18 players can choose to play three, six, or nine-inning games, or compete in a home run derby, or pitching contest.

A Batbox spokesperson told the Dallas Business Journal that the project will cost anywhere between $3 million and $5 million.

No opening date has been set yet, but the company hopes to open its North Texas location sometime early next year, WFAA reported.

Batbox, which began in 2019, recently closed on a Series A funding round, which generated $7.3 million to help the company expand to the United States from Mexico. The goal is to open over 25 locations in cities with Major League Baseball markets by 2030.

Using a baseball simulator dubbed Strikezon, Batbox is able to offer the “most realistic indoor baseball experience,” according to the company’s website. Strikezon technology utilizes a full HD screen, vision sensors that track the ball’s trajectory with 98% precision, a surround sound system, and more.

Jose Vargas, founder and CEO of Batbox, shared what has made the concept so successful in Mexico and what he hopes will continue to make it successful in the United States.

“Our immersive simulators and high-quality service have made Batbox a popular destination across Mexico, with a growing number of locations showcasing our ability to attract diverse audiences and create memorable experiences,” Vargas stated. “This success is a testament to our innovative approach and our commitment to delivering excellence.”

Immersive sports and entertainment venues continue to be popular in North Texas. TOCA Social, an immersive soccer experience, will debut in The Colony next summer, as previously reported by The Dallas Express.
