“Competitors showcase their athleticism by performing acrobatic leaps, spins, and rapid changes in direction, all while evading the bull’s charges. It’s a thrilling spectacle that requires a unique blend of courage, agility, and quick thinking, as the bullfighter aims to outwit the bull in the arena,” the event’s website reads.

Ultimate bullfighting, often referred to as freestyle bullfighting, emerged as a distinct sport in the 1970s. It evolved from traditional rodeo bullfighting, where bullfighters protect fallen riders, into a competitive event where bullfighters showcase their agility, daring, and skill in evading and maneuvering around the bull. The goal in ultimate bullfighting is to demonstrate control and showmanship while avoiding contact with the bull, making it a test of both physical prowess and mental acuity.

Ticket prices are $15 for kids and $35+ for adults. Doors open at 12 p.m.

“The melding of this historic arena, its proximity to the Stockyards’ rustic allure, and the pulse-pounding thrill of Freestyle Bull Fighting coalesce into an immersive experience that is sure to resonate with every spectator.
