Dallas’ southern district is buzzing in anticipation as the UniverSoul Circus pitches its vibrant Big Top at Red Bird Mall for its latest “Family Reunion Tour.”

Celebrating its 30th anniversary, the circus promises a spectacle of talent that has previously captivated audiences worldwide. Its first performance is Thursday, and the show will run in Red Bird until August 11.

On Wednesday, city officials and local residents gathered at Dallas City Hall for a special preview of the circus.

Mayor Pro Tem Tennell Atkins expressed his enthusiasm, telling NBC 5 DFW, “I’m a kid at heart…I’d rather be at the circus than at a city council meeting.”

Led by Ringmaster N.O., hailing proudly from New Orleans, the UniverSoul Circus showcased an array of international acts during the preview.

Exhilarating performances will take place at the SoulCircus, including extreme motocross riders, Caribbean Carnivale dancers, a “wheel of death” performance, hoop divers, the trapeze act “China Soul Flyers,” “Havana Night Skaters,” and much more.

Alongside providing entertainment that is sure to make the audience’s pulse race, Ringmaster N.O. explained that the circus is a celebration of diversity.

“Our show is very culture driven, as we combine so many different nationalities from around the world,” said Ringmaster N.O., per NBC 5.

Atkins highlighted how the UniverSoul Circus could significantly boost the Red Bird area’s economic and cultural prospects.

“UniverSoul Circus is one of the best circuses you’ve ever seen,” Atkins said, per NBC 5. “When you’ve got a circus like this in the Southern part of Dallas, you say hey, what’s going on in the Southern part of Dallas?”
