Sen. Ted Cruz is reportedly worried that Republicans aren’t taking Vice President Kamala Harris seriously, especially considering the amount of support she has from big-money Democratic donors and legacy media.

As previously relayed by The Dallas Express, Harris managed to get enough Democratic National Convention delegates to unofficially back her play on Monday, making her the heir apparent.

While it looks like she’s positioned to perform better than President Joe Biden, she was trailing former President Donald Trump by a couple of points in polling conducted earlier this month, per DX.

Here’s some of what RedState reported on Cruz’s concerns:

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) cautions the GOP not to underestimate Vice President Kamala Harris, who is the presumptive Democrat nominee for president, as most Democrat politicians coalesced behind her, and donors have raised 81 million dollars in the first 24 hours of Harris’ presidential bid.

Some believe Harris will be an easier matchup for Trump-Vance, while others believe Biden was the easier matchup. However, Cruz, who served with Harris in the U.S. Senate, had a warning for the GOP on his podcast called “The Verdict.” He said:

“Republicans, I worry, vastly underestimate Kamala Harris. They don’t think very highly of her. They don’t think she’s terribly bright. When you or I bring up Kamala Harris’ name in Republican circles, people laugh. It’s immediately a punchline. I think people are underestimating what billions of dollars of free media of the entire corrupt corporate media complex, pitching her as a combination of Mother Teresa, Oprah and Gandhi.”

Cruz reiterated that he believes Trump will win in November, but it will not be a lopsided result, as some are predicting:

“Now, I still think Trump wins in November. But this is not a layup. It is not given. And what’s coming in front of us look, if you’re a Democrat, what makes you nervous is chaos, and this much chaos 100 days out is scary. But you know what? Even more scary is going into an election where you’re almost certain to lose, which is where Biden was.”
