Business is booming in Fort Worth for those catering to the needs of the hot and sweaty, with seasonal businesses cashing in on people’s need to stay cool during the summer.
The Texas heat can be relentless, turning summer into an endurance test. Temperatures soar past 100 degrees, making some outdoor activities nearly unbearable. The scorching sun leaves everything sizzling, and the oppressive humidity only adds to the discomfort. It’s a constant battle to stay cool and hydrated in this unforgiving climate.
Given such a state of affairs, summer presents a prime opportunity for seasonal businesses. Popular options include ice cream and snow cone stands, food trucks offering refreshing beverages and light fare, and outdoor adventure rentals like kayaks, paddleboards, and bikes.
Pool cleaning, HVAC repair, and other maintenance services also thrive due to the high demand.
Here’s some of what the Fort Worth Report published on the current niche business climate:
Despite the detrimental effects the Texas summer heat has on some businesses, Fort Worth entrepreneurs in chill niche industries experience an increase in demand in the summer months.
Many business owners see the impact that heat has on their revenue, as customers spend less time outdoors. Last year, after a summer heat wave that was the second hottest on record in the state, the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas conducted a study to analyze the effect the heat wave had on businesses. Nearly 25% of businesses surveyed said the temperature had a negative impact.
Of those businesses, over 50% correlated their decreased revenue with lower customer demand.
However, some Fort Worth businesses are built exactly for this climate.
