Elon Musk, who previously said he would not donate to either presidential candidate, appears to have decided to throw some of his financial heft behind former President Donald Trump.

The tech entrepreneur reportedly made a “sizeable” donation to a pro-Trump political action committee. While it is currently unclear when the donation was made, the news comes as President Joe Biden’s campaign appears to be imploding following the 81-year-old’s disastrous performance in last month’s presidential debate and a subsequent “big-boy” press conference on Thursday during which the commander-in-chief referred to Vice President Kamala Harris as “Vice President Trump.”

Although many Democratic lawmakers are seemingly sticking by their (old) man, a growing chorus of voices is calling on the president to get out of the way and let someone else take a stab at beating Trump.

Musk himself has been a vocal critic of Biden’s policies, even before it became unassailably clear that the man is suffering from some degree of cognitive decline.

“Biden’s strategy is very simple: 1. Get as many illegals in the country as possible. 2. Legalize them to create a permanent majority – a one-party state. That is why they are encouraging so much illegal immigration. Simple, yet effective,” tweeted the 53-year-old back in February.

Here’s some of what the New York Post reported about Musk’s political donation:

Billionaire Elon Musk has made a contribution to a political group backing former President Donald Trump in the 2024 election, according to a report.

Musk, 53, donated a “sizeable amount” of money to America PAC, Bloomberg News reported on Friday.

The super PAC is required to disclose its list of donors on July 15, according to the outlet.

America PAC was formed in Austin, Texas in May – where Musk’s electric car company Tesla is headquartered.

The group’s website encourages visitors to “register to vote” and “make a plan to vote early in person or by mail.”

“Vote and have your say if America can be a land of freedom and opportunity for all. We can have the greatest election victory in America’s history when you vote!” text on the website reads.

America PAC has spent at least $6.6 million on behalf of Trump, according to the New York Times.

Musk’s largest previous political donation was a $50,000 contribution to the McCarthy Victory Fund in 2017, and before that, he gave more than $35,000 to Obama Victory Fund in 2011, Federal Election Commission records show.
