Some left-wing Democrats in the House have been pushing to oust two Supreme Court justices this week, and Rep. Jasmine Crockett has joined the movement.

Rather than respecting one of the equal branches of the federal government, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) and her followers are seeking to remove Justices Clarence Thomas and Samuel Alito from the nation’s highest court.

Using the high-profile reports alleging various improprieties on the part of the two associate justices, Ocasio-Cortez and Crockett may be seeking political payback for the slew of majority rulings that have emanated from the Supreme Court — overturning Roe v. Wade, dealing a blow to the Chevron Doctrine, and backing cities trying to deal with their homelessness problems — because they don’t agree with them.

Here’s some of what The Texan reported on Crockett joining Ocasio-Cortez’s crusade:

Articles of impeachment were filed on Wednesday against Clarence Thomas and Samuel Alito, both associate justices of the Supreme Court of the United States (SCOTUS), in an effort led by Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY-14).

They carried support from a lone Texas Democrat at the time of filing: Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-TX-30).

The impeachment resolutions are based on allegations arising from several reports relating to gifts the two justices have received, and whether those gifts were properly reported on ethics disclosures.

The resolutions levy a host of accusations against the justices, citing the constitutional requirements that officers of the United States may be impeached for committing “high crimes and misdemeanors.”

One charge against Alito cites an instance in which his wife flew the historic Appeal to Heaven flag at their home, and then the justice failed to recuse himself from the Fischer v. United States decision — a case where justices across ideological lines agreed the United States wrongfully used an obstruction statute to charge those involved in the January 6, 2020 riot at the Capitol building with a higher offense.

Similarly, one of the many charges levied against Thomas seeks his removal for failing to disclose vacations gifted to him by a friend, Dallas billionaire Harlan Crow, as well as the sale of a house and other personal financial dealing.
