Outgoing Texas Rep. Frederick Frazier is suing his former opponent, Paul Chabot, for defamation.

The lawsuit was filed in a Collin County District Court on June 25.

According to the petition, Chabot’s allegedly defamatory actions began in 2022 and continued even after the primary election was over, employing various methods such as social media, public forums, and a dedicated anti-Frazier website.

The website lists several allegations that portray Frazier (R-McKinney) in a derogatory light, including his “dishonorable discharge” from the Dallas Police Department and the loss of his endorsement from the McKinney Police Department.

Chabot has accused Frazier of impersonating a code officer when trying to remove his opponent’s campaign sign from a Walmart during the 2022 GOP primary season. Frazier won the 2022 primary against Chabot, reported The Texan.

Chabot also posted a court document that purportedly outlines Frazier’s plea agreement in the case pertaining to the campaign sign incident, in which Frazier was charged with criminal mischief and impersonating an officer.

“This is the admonishments given to this Defendant by the Judge, which Frazier signed as GUILTY: “Understanding all of my foregoing rights, I wish to waive these rights and enter a plea of guilty in this case.” Frazier also signed his name to this in the plea, “I do not contest all the facts alleged in the charging instrument… I further admit my guilt on any unadjudiated [sic] offenses set forth in the plea,” the website states.

Frazier’s defamation lawsuit seeks monetary relief of over $250,000 but no more than $1,000,000, as Frazier’s attorneys argue that Chabot’s actions have damaged Frazier’s reputation.

“Defendant Paul Chabot has perpetuated a systematic and public campaign of defamation against Plaintiff Frederick Frazier, a distinguished retired Dallas Police Officer and a current member of the Texas Legislature representing Collin County, Texas,” the defamation complaint reads.

“Defendant’s sweeping and relentless defamatory crusade against Mr. Frazier encompasses a series of false and injurious statements distributed across various platforms, including social media, public forums, the website www.firefrazier.com, and video content.”

“Each of these statements, and many more, are published for the world to see on a website run and operated and maintained by Defendant Chabot titled www.firefrazier.com. This website compiles and republishes false statements about Mr. Frazier. Chabot’s www.firefrazier.com website also features a blog where Defendant publishes false claims about Mr. Frazier to rally and mobilize voters against Mr. Frazier,” the complaint states.

Chabot’s attorney, Tony McDonald, slammed Frazier’s lawsuit, per The Texan.

“It’s a ridiculous lawsuit. Frazier should be ashamed of filing it,” said McDonald, who has also done legal work for DX.

As previously reported by The Dallas Express, Frazier lost his re-election bid in the 2024 Republican primary to Keresa Richardson, who won 67.6% of the vote in the Republican runoff, while Frazier only received 32.4%.

The Dallas Express reached out to Frazier’s office for comment but did not receive a response.
