Amid intraparty calls for President Joe Biden to drop out of the presidential race, U.S. Rep. Colin Allred dodged questions on whether Biden is mentally fit for office.

Allred (D-TX) refused to answer a series of questions about whether he supports Biden’s reelection, according to a video shared Monday by Henry Rodgers, chief national correspondent for the Daily Caller.

The congressman declined to comment on Biden’s debate performance against former President Trump last month.

Allred’s campaign did not respond to The Dallas Express‘ requests for comment. This silence comes as Democratic House colleagues struggle to unite behind the president.

On Wednesday, Rep. Pat Ryan (D-NY) became the eighth House Democrat to call on Biden to drop out of the race.

“I’d be doing a grave disservice if I said he was the best candidate to serve this fall,” Ryan said in an interview, per The New York Times. “For the good of our country, for my two young kids, I’m asking Joe Biden to step aside in the upcoming election and deliver on the promise to be a bridge to a new generation of leaders.”

Biden sent a letter on July 8 to House Democrats demanding they “end” calls for him to drop out. The letter included a declaration he is “firmly committed to staying in the race.”

“I have heard the concerns that people have … I am not blind to them,” Biden wrote. “I wouldn’t be running again if I did not absolutely believe I was the best person to beat Donald Trump in 2024.”

Allred has voted in favor of Biden’s policy initiatives 100% of the time, according to FiveThirtyEight.

Allred hopes to oust incumbent Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) for the U.S. Senate seat in November. However, a recent poll showed Allred trailing Cruz by 10 percentage points. Other polls in June revealed Cruz leading by 4 percentage points.

Allred has remained similarly silent on Texas murders in recent weeks allegedly committed by unlawful migrants, as reported by The Dallas Express. One incident occurred in Richardson, roughly 20 miles from his district office.

Additionally, the congressman previously praised Dr. Omar Suleiman, who called Israel a “terrorist regime” and said, “The beginning of the end of Zionism is here,” as previously reported by DX. Allred later dodged questions about his relationship with Suleiman.
