A former Grand Prairie Independent School teacher has been arrested on a charge of indecency with a child.
Matthew Ramos was a teacher at the Young Women’s Leadership Academy at Arnold, an all-girls school.
Grand Prairie ISD administrators said they received reports of a possible inappropriate student-teacher relationship on October 22 and reported it to authorities.
According to the administrators, Ramos resigned afterward, and he was reported to the State Board of Educator Certification.
Grand Prairie ISD Superintendent Linda Ellis released a statement saying she wants everyone to know that Grand Prairie ISD administrators do not tolerate any form of inappropriate communication or contact between a teacher and a student.
Ellis added that the district would act swiftly to ensure concerns are appropriately investigated and that the appropriate action is taken to ensure the safety of students.
Ramos remains in custody at the Grand Prairie jail, and his bail is set at $50,000.
