Major changes are in the pipeline for Frisco’s iconic Toyota Stadium, home of Major League Soccer team FC Dallas.
With plans to enhance its facilities, the stadium is gearing up for a grand makeover, including the expansion of premium suites and club areas, as revealed in documents filed with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation.
The proposed renovations also encompass new broadcast and press working spaces to comply with MLS standards and the installation of sports lighting integrated into a state-of-the-art canopy system. While the specifics of the renovation plans remain under wraps, the estimated construction cost is $130 million, with Dallas-based architects HKS Inc. listed as the designer.
Since its inauguration in 2005, Toyota Stadium has carved a niche for itself as one of the premier sporting arenas in the United States. Serving as the third dedicated MLS stadium, it has not hosted soccer games but concerts, festivals, and a variety of other sporting events.
Construction is slated to kick off in January, with an expected completion date of August 2027. Notably, the eastern portion of the stadium is primed for a substantial revamp, reported The Dallas Morning News.
The timing of these renovations could not be more opportune for soccer fans. Toyota Stadium is preparing to play a pivotal role in the upcoming 2026 World Cup. As one of the designated base training camps for the prestigious tournament, the stadium will be front and center on the world stage.
This ambitious renovation endeavor follows Toyota Stadium’s previous facelift in 2018, which saw a comprehensive overhaul costing $55 million, according to WFAA News.
From revamped suites and club-level amenities to new restaurants and cutting-edge video boards, the renovations included the inauguration of the National Soccer Hall of Fame, cementing Toyota Stadium’s status as hallowed ground for soccer aficionados.
