An illegal alien was arrested and charged in connection to the abduction and assault of a minor child in Virginia last week.
Law enforcement officers responded to a distress call from a minor allegedly being held against her will in the early morning hours of May 22 at a Love’s truck stop in Covington.
According to the Alleghany County Sheriff’s Office (ACSO), a young girl from Louisiana made a frantic call to the police at 3:51 a.m. requesting assistance. During the 911 call, she claimed to be confined and held in a vehicle by an individual later identified as Diego Soch Castro, who authorities later confirmed to be an illegal alien.
Upon arrival, officers arrested Castro at the scene. He now faces charges of abduction, indecent liberties with a minor, and assault and battery, per the ACSO. However, the identity and age of the minor have not been disclosed to the public, leaving many questions unanswered about the circumstances surrounding the abduction and details of the crimes committed by Castro.
The young girl was promptly transported to Lewis Gale Alleghany Hospital for a comprehensive physical and mental health evaluation. Subsequently, she was placed in the care of Child Protective Services, per the ACSO.
An ICE detainer has been placed on Castro, according to the sheriff’s office. Castro’s age and country of origin remain undisclosed. The investigation is ongoing.
According to a report from the U.S. Customs and Border Patrol, border officials intercepted a total of 15,267 illegal aliens who had criminal convictions either abroad or in the U.S. last year. This marks a substantial increase from the 12,027 illegal aliens with criminal convictions arrested in 2022.
