Another company stepped up to do its part to keep Dallas clean earlier this month by participating in a local adopt-a-block program.
“We’re thrilled to announce that A-1 Locksmith DFW, under the leadership of Michael Schneider, has stepped up as the latest steward of Dallas’ streets through the Adopt-A-Block program,” reads a social media post by Adopt A Block DFW, a Dallas-based initiative launched by the Metroplex Civic & Business Association (MCBA).
A satisfaction survey conducted by the City of Dallas last year found that most residents think the City does a “poor” job keeping Dallas streets clean. Polling by The Dallas Express found that most residents were unhappy with the amount of trash and litter in their neighborhoods and around Dallas.
Employees of A-1 Locksmith picked up trash on Lemmon Avenue, between West Mockingbird Lane and North Versailles Avenue, on May 17. The stretch of road comprises part of the border between Council Member Jesse Moreno’s District 2 and Council Member Gay Donnell Willis’ District 13, just southeast of Dallas Love Field.
“A1 Locksmith’s clean-up costs were offset with an Adopt-A-Block grant of $2,492. Their first cleanup … marks the beginning of a cleaner, greener Lemmon Ave. community. Hats off to A1 Locksmith for locking in their commitment to a brighter and cleaner Dallas!” the social media post continued.
As previously reported by The Dallas Express, MCBA started its adopt-a-block initiative in October 2023.
“Adopt a Block is a non-profit designed to jumpstart a movement amongst DFW businesses to keep the areas in which we work, live, and play clean,” reads the initiative’s website. “Our program solicits companies to do their part in cleaning up our streets and parks, providing all of the practical and other guidance they need to get started, and — thanks to the generosity of donors — is in a position to cover some or all of the small costs of a company’s Adopt a Block program.”
