Dallas is hosting a movie premiere Friday for War on Truth — a film about the “censored” story of the January 6 protests at the U.S. Capitol.

The film’s world premiere will take place May 17 at the Angelika Film Center at 5321 E. Mockingbird Ln. as part of the Ministry of Truth Summer Film Fest. It features January 6 protest witnesses and video footage of the events of that day.

“You’ve been told that J6 was a violent insurrection against the United States by a group of angry, fringe, MAGA supporters,” the film synopsis states. “What if it wasn’t? What if the reason the J6 footage was withheld for years and the topic has been so censored is that there is more to the story? What if there really was a War on Truth?”

The film’s producer, Nick Searcy, is a prominent actor who attended the January 6 protests. He played General Hoyt in the award-winning The Shape of Water and appeared in the Oscar-award-winning Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri.

The director, Chris Burgard, was a dance double in Ferris Bueller’s Day Off and then appeared in Growing Pains and Tour of Duty.

“Was J6 an insurrection or is there something to the so called ‘conspiracy theories’ that J6 was instigated? What really happened that day? Everyone from both sides of the political spectrum owe it to themselves to look at the evidence and ask: was J6 a violent insurrection, or was this whole thing part of the War on Truth?” the synopsis continues.

Viewers are invited to an after-party with members of the cast at The Londoner, located next door to the theater.

More than 450 defendants have been charged for their alleged actions during the January 6 protests, some of which purportedly included assaulting, resisting, or impeding officers or Capitol employees, according to the Department of Justice.

William Sarsfield III of Gun Barrel City is facing up to five years of prison and a $250,000 fine for his actions at the January 6 protests despite never entering the U.S. Capitol and escorting a Capitol officer to safety, as previously reported by The Dallas Express.
