The summer months are approaching, meaning it’s time to kick back, relax, and have fun.
Locally, there are tons of events this month and throughout the summer, providing fun for all with various activities:
Dallas Events
Junior Players’ 2024 Future Filmmakers Festival
The event will feature work from four different schools across North Texas. Students worked with local professionals to write, film, and edit their compelling narratives, “exploring visions of peace and detailing the challenges and champions they see in their communities.” The festival consists of a one-hour screening of the films followed by a 30-minute Q&A with the participants.
When: May 19 at 3 p.m.

Silent Disco
The silent disco will allow attendees to connect through a unique, quiet experience. Attendees can choose from three music stations, with the music played through headphones instead of a traditional speaker. The event will also feature a 360 photo booth from DFW Selfie Mirror, and attendees will receive a C4 Energy pop-up and an Evamor water bottle.
When: May 24 at 8 p.m.
Where: Klyde Warren Park, 2012 Woodall Rogers Fwy.

Memorial March
A march will be held in observance of Memorial Day to remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom. The two-day event will feature a 20-hour march, music, flag ceremonies, inspirational speeches, food trucks, and a kid zone.
When: May 26-27 at 12 p.m.

Happily Ever Sip & Shop Vendor Market
The family- and dog-friendly market will feature over 35 vendors, showcasing local Texas beer, permanent jewelry, handcrafted items, unique finds, lawn games, food, and more.
When: May 26 at 12 p.m.
Where: Community Beer Co., 3110 Commonwealth Dr.

Fort Worth Events
Bullfighters Only Ranch Fuel Battle
The bullfighters’ event features several bullfighters taking on bulls head-on in a battle of strength and skill. The fighters are scored based on their interaction with the bull and the tricks they deploy to avoid being taken down by the bull. The winner of the event will take home $50,000.
When: May 16 at 7:30 p.m.
Where: Will Rogers Memorial Center, 3401 West Lancaster Ave.

Cowgirl Bark at the Park
The second annual Bark at the Park event features fun for pups and their families with live music, pet adoptions, “puppichinos,” kid and dog activities, hot dogs, popsicles, and more.
When: May 18 at 2 p.m.
Where: Alice Walton Cowgirl Park, 1720 Gendy St.
Admission is free.
Rock n Roll Rummage Sale
Get your shopping on at this sale, which will feature art, vintage items, artisan-made goods, live music, trucks, food, and a full bar. The event is family- and pet-friendly.
When: May 19 at 11 a.m.
Where: South Main Micro Park, 105 S Main St.

Beyond the DFW Metroplex
Here are some must-stop spots outside North Texas to kick off the summer like never before:
Fairfield Crawfest
This crawfish festival will give Texans a chance to have an authentic Louisiana experience with gumbo, jambalaya, crawfish, and boudin. Alongside yummy food, there will also be a kid’s bubble party and live music.
When: May 19 at 1 p.m.

iFEST USA
Houston will hold its International Festival next weekend where attendees can learn about other cultures from around the world, see unique art, hear different music, and eat tasty foods.

Waco Surf
Waco’s Surf Water Park features a beach, cable park, large slides, surfing lessons, and a lazy river. The park also features a restaurant and bar and is perfect for cooling off for the whole family. It will be open all summer.
When: Opens 7 days a week starting May 11 at 12 p.m.
Where: Waco Surf, 5347 Old Mexia Rd. in Waco

Lake Travis
Another must-stop water spot is Lake Travis in Austin. The 63.75-mile-long lake is perfect for boating, ziplining, and lounging activities.
