The National Football League used to be partnered with a left-wing group that bailed out anti-Israel agitators who blocked traffic in dozens of cities last week, according to a report.
Community Justice Exchange paid for the bail and legal defense of “A15” agitators who blocked bridges and highways last week as they called for a cease-fire in Gaza. The group was an official “Inspire Change” partner with the NFL, The Washington Free Beacon reported.
The A15 protests aimed to “coordinate a multi-city economic blockade on April 15th in solidarity with Palestine,” according to the organizers. ActBlue, which largely fundraises for Democratic candidates, organized a fundraiser for Community Justice Exchange to support those arrested due to the protests.
“Across the country and around the world, people are demanding a free Palestine by coming together in their local communities,” the fundraiser stated. “In many of these places, community members are facing repression, arrest, and prosecution.”
The NFL previously promoted Community Justice Exchange through its “Inspire Change” program that provided grants and publicity for the group. The partnership aimed “to end money bail and pre-trial detention at the local level and immigration detention at the national level,” the NFL stated.
“Community Justice Exchange will continue to work with organizers, advocates, and legal providers across the country that are using community bail funds as part of efforts to radically change local bail systems and reduce incarceration, impacting over 90 local community bail/bond funds across 37 states through its National Bail Fund Network by posting bail for thousands of individuals in pretrial and immigration detention per year, reunifying families and allowing people to resolve their cases from a place of freedom to reduce the impact of pretrial incarceration,” a 2022 press release from the NFL stated.
The partnership between the NFL and Community Justice Exchange appeared to end last year, as the group is not listed on the 2023 grant announcement and is instead listed as a previous partner. It is unclear how much grant money the NFL provided.
Community Justice Exchange is a part of the Tides Center, a left-wing network incubating projects like Black Lives Matter and funded by George Soros, among others, per the Free Beacon.
