Thousands of avocado oil units have been recalled due to a risk of glass containers breaking.
Primal Kitchen, headquartered in Oxnard, California, announced a voluntary recall of approximately 2,060 cases of its 750 ml avocado oil product on April 19. The product was sold by different vendors in the U.S., Canada, and online.
According to the FDA’s issuance of the company’s announcement, affected units have an individual package UPC of 8-5523200719-4 and a “Best When Used By” date of August 19, 2025, to August 21, 2025.
The company initiated the recall after discovering that oil had leaked in shipping containers at one of its warehouses. This led officials to believe that the glass containers were prone to breaking.
No injuries or illnesses have been reported in association with the recalled product. Those in possession of the affected Primal Kitchen Avocado Oil are encouraged to dispose of it and contact Primal Kitchen.
“Primal Kitchen is committed to upholding the highest safety and quality standards. This recall is isolated to a packaging issue for this specific size (750mL Glass),” read an announcement from the FDA.
These are not the only products under a recent recall due to hazardous packaging. Procter & Gamble recalled 8.2 million bags in detergent pods earlier this month from Tide Pods, Gain Flings, Ace Pods, and Ariel Pods due to the bags splitting open, creating a hazard for children, as previously reported by The Dallas Express.
