A Texas homegrown favorite soft drink brand, Dr Pepper, has announced a new limited-time flavor just in time for summer.
Dr Pepper Creamy Coconut and Dr Pepper Creamy Coconut Zero Sugar will be available beginning May 1 at retail locations across the nation.
According to the company, the new beverage combines the flavor of original Dr Pepper with “layers of tropical coconut flavor and a delicious creamy finish.” As the only “coconut-cream-flavored dark soda on the market,” the new flavor “pairs perfectly with a hot summer day.”
The product will be available in 12-packs of 12-ounce cans and individual 20-ounce bottles.
Dr Pepper, the oldest major soft drink in the United States, was originally created at Morrison’s Old Corner Drug Store in Waco, Texas, where it was first sold in 1885. Since then, it has grown to be a favorite beverage nationwide, especially among Texans.
The company, now headquartered in Plano, Texas, is known for its constant innovations, such as the Dr Pepper-Flavored Marshmallow Chicks, released in collaboration with the Peeps brand over the Easter holiday. Last year, Dr Pepper partnered with another favorite Texas brand, Blue Bell Creameries, to create a new ice cream flavor, Dr Pepper Float.
In another twist on the coconut cream-Dr Pepper pairing, the company has partnered with Coffee Mate to introduce the Dr Pepper Dirty Soda Creamer. Coffee Mate has “put the lime in the coconut” to produce a Coconut Lime creamer uniquely crafted to be mixed with the 23 flavors of Dr Pepper.
However, as the medieval poet Geoffrey Chaucer noted, “All good things must come to an end.” So, too, Dr Pepper Dirty Soda Creamer is available for a “limited time” only, and Dr Pepper Creamy Coconut is only available through the end of July.
