A legal battle over a fired principal ended on Thursday, with the Tarrant County 348th Judicial District Court ruling that the Grapevine-Colleyville Independent School District’s motion for summary judgment should be granted.

“IT IS FURTHER ORDERED that Plaintiff’s claims against Defendant Grapevine-Colleyville Independent School District (GCISD) are dismissed with prejudice and Plaintiff take nothing,” per the filed case signed by Judge Megan Fahey.

The case stems from former Colleyville Heritage High School principal James Whitfield and his alleged inability to work with teachers and staff, including sending a controversial email to every family, faculty, and staff member concerning “recent deaths of George Floyd, Ahmaud Arbery, and Breonna Taylor,” as previously reported by The Dallas Express.

Tammy Nakamura, a member of the GCISD Board of Trustees, was also named as a defendant in the lawsuit. The suit alleges that she broke a mediated settlement agreement between the district and Whitfield when she spoke publicly about Whitfield and his conduct at an event.
