The Texas Rangers begin the defense of their first World Series title on Thursday night against the Chicago Cubs in Arlington, but first, the team debuted its food menu for the 2024 season to members of the local media on Monday.
This year, the team decided to take a “retro” approach to its menu as a tribute to the old stadium. Its new items include Korean Pork Steamed Buns, Chicken Empanadas, Meatball Garlic Knot Sliders, a Ranchero Chile Relleno Dawwg, and the Boomstick Triple Play — a twist on the iconic hot dog that includes two hamburgers, a footlong chili dog, and nachos in a family-sized box.
“It’s meant for the family,” Casey Rapp, a general manager for Delaware North Companies, which handles the Rangers’ concessions, explained to the media. “It’s four items. Instead of it being one large item, it has several that you can choose between for that one large box.”
The Arlington Eats program, which features food from restaurants around the city, returns with a more significant presence at the ballpark. After being available on a limited basis, this year, the program has expanded to seven restaurants — with a possible eighth being added later — and will have local selections at all 81 home games.
Other restaurants will also continue to have a presence in the ballpark. Golden Chick returns to its spot near Section 128 and will debut a Chicken and Waffles taco.
“I thought it was a very unique thing where it’s handheld, it’s portable, and it’s got a neat little holder that comes in their iconic Golden Chick box that you can take to your seat with you,” Rapp said.
Lastly, another Texas staple will be offered at Globe Life Field this season as Whataburger opens a location at Section 105. The restaurant will not be open for Opening Day, but it is expected to be available beginning with the April 5 game against the Houston Astros.
“They’ve been great partners with us as well,” Rapp added. “We’ve created an express menu so that fans can get through the line quickly but still have some of their iconic items such as their shakes, hamburgers, fries, and onion rings.”
Everything else will be available when the Rangers host the Chicago Cubs at 6:35 p.m. CT on Thursday.
