Recipes from a cookie contest held at The Preston of the Park Cities senior living community will help benefit the Alzheimer’s Association. The residents of the facility in Dallas all participated in the cookie contest with two winners declared.

The winning cookie creations included ‘Caramel Stuffed Chocolate Chip Cookies’ submitted by staff associate, Bailey Blunt, for “Best Recipe Submitted by an Associate” and ‘Tea Cookies for Gene’ from resident Virginia Myers and her daughter, Brenda Myers, for “Best Recipe Submitted by a Resident or Family Member.”

“This friendly and tasty cookie competition stirred up a lot of good memories for our residents and their family members, as well as for our team of staff associates,” Ke’o Velasquez, the executive director at The Preston of the Park Cities, shared with NBC DFW.

Velasquez added, “Knowing that these winning recipes will be prepared by our culinary team and sold to benefit the Alzheimer’s Association in our booth at the October 30th Saint Michael’s Family Day at the Farmers Market made the competition even more meaningful.”

Both recipes from the top two winners will be prepared by The Preston of the Park Cities culinary team. The team will then sell the cookies on behalf of the Dallas-based facility during Saint Michael’s Family Day on October 30th between 10 a.m. and noon at the Farmers Market. The Farmers Market is located at 8011 Douglas Avenue at Colgate Road.

The funds raised from the sales of the blue ribbon-winning cookies will then be donated to the Alzheimer’s Association which conducts global research and promotes early detection of the disease.
