Joya Playground has officially reopened to the public with new hours and parking arrangements.

This glow-in-the-dark playground, located at Oran Good Park in Farmers Branch, opened in January following several months of construction. City officials described the over 18,000-square-foot park as the “crown jewel of playgrounds in Farmers Branch,” as previously reported by The Dallas Express.

The city would later announce that the park would be temporarily closed from March 1 to March 10 for maintenance and repairs.

Farmers Branch City Hall announced in a social media post that the park would reopen on March 11 at 12:00 p.m. Among the changes to the park, such as the prevention of parking along Tom Field Road, are safety improvements like a chain-link fence surrounding the park, allowing the park to be secured at night, according to Fox 4 KDFW.

Robert Diaz, director of parks and recreation for Farmers Branch, told Fox 4 that officials closed to make some improvements, noting that they want a permanent perimeter fence.

“It can be better, and we wanted to do better and think through some things,” Diaz said. “That’s why we took a reset last week.”

Diaz hopes the new fencing will prevent people from lingering in the park after it closes.

“We are working with public safety to secure the playground after 10 because they were getting a lot of calls after 10 p.m., so we are trying to mitigate that,” said Diaz, per Fox 4.

Park hours are every day from noon to 10:00 p.m. LED lighting hours are 5:45 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., and parking lot lights are on from 5:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.
